2024 Season Review
The Royal softball team ended the season with a 22-6 record, surpassing one of their goals of winning 20 games this season. The team started off playing really well but injuries brought some challenges to the lineup. By season’s end, the girls were close to 100%, and they went on to win the sectional championship, another goal for the season. A seventh Circle City Conference Championship was another great accomplishment for the Royals. This is a title they have not lost since the conference was created.
Head coach David Lauck R’94 said, “Through some challenging stretches of the season, the girls played with great confidence, and they played for each other. We had a young team this year, and they knocked off New Palestine and Center Grove in the regular season, arguably two of the top teams in Indiana.”
The team’s hard work did not go unnoticed, as many girls walked away with end-of-season recognitions. All-Circle City Conference honors went to senior Emma Fegan, juniors Carly Keller, Addy Poe and Natalie Summers and sophomore Elise Baker. Keller, Poe and Summers were also all named to the All-County team. Fegan was named Academic All-State, while Keller earned 3rd Team All-State recognition. Seniors walked away with all of the Roncalli individual awards as well. Fegan was named MVP and received the Leadership Award. Katie Kriner earned the Mental Attitude Award, and Avery Clark was recognized with the Sportsmanship Award.
