2024 Season Review

Girls Tennis

For the first time since 2022, the Royals won the sectional championship! They were ultimately defeated by the sixth ranked team in the state, the Franklin Community High School Grizzlies, to become regional runners-up. The team’s success was no surprise as their competitiveness was there from the start, but they were able to improve on technique and strategy as the season progressed. Coach Lord said, “I believe the team played to their full potential all season. The girls showed great enthusiasm and represented the school in a wonderful way. I would say winning the sectional title is the most memorable moment. It was great to see the players and their families celebrate together on the courts after the victory.”

Many team members were recognized for their efforts at the end of the season. Senior Becca Zakrowski was named team MVP, a North-South All-Star, as well as making the All-County team. Additional Royals joining Zakrowski with All-County recognition include senior Thalia Guzman and sophomores Lily Rutherford and Evie Eble. Guzman was also given the Roncalli Sportsmanship Award. Senior Morgan Vaught earned the Mental Attitude Award, and senior Kate Rittenhouse received the Leadership Award for the Royals.
