Meet the Medical Staff

Franciscan Health Sports Medicine and Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics offer an extraordinary array of services for athletes, coaches, students and staff members at Roncalli. Our teams of physicians, surgeons, athletic trainers and physical therapists have come together to serve the Roncalli families in any way you need us. Franciscan Health Sports Medicine athletic trainer, Megan Pakkala and Michael Sundell, will be providing the day to day care for the athletes. Franciscan Health and Forté are a new force in motion…caring for Roncalli athletes in practice, competition and beyond.

Megan Pakkala, LAT, ATC is one of the Royal’s Athletic Trainer. Megan is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. She comes to us from Newfield, New York. Megan is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and licensed by the state of Indiana.  Megan was a member of the medical staff for the WGA Western Open PGA Tournament.  Megan is a part of the USA diving medical staff and has worked the World Junior Diving Championships, Olympic Trials and other Domestic Events. Megan has also worked as a part of the medical staff for the BIG 10 and Horizon league Basketball Championships. She has worked the 1st and 2nd round of the NCAA basketball tournament. Megan was also a member of the medical staff for the U17 Pan American games for the USA Water Polo team.


Michael Sundell, MS, LAT, ATC is the other Athletic Trainer for the Royals. Mike is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic training where he worked with multiple Purdue athletics teams (BOILER UP!), followed by a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Athletic Training from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. While at GSU he worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer working as an Athletic Trainer at a local High School while being a full time Graduate student.. He is originally from Indianapolis, and moved back after graduating from Georgia Southern. He spent the last 4 years at Pike High School before moving to Roncalli. He is excited to be a part of the Royal’s Sports Medicine Staff and help Royal’s athletes be at their best.


Jenna Walls, MD

Sports Medicine Specialist

Jenna Walls, MD, CAQSM, is the head sports medicine physician for the Roncalli Royals.  Dr. Walls earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine.  She completed her internship and residency in Family Medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, then completed her Sports Medicine fellowship with St. Vincent Sports Performance.  Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Walls serves on the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for the Indiana High School Athletic Association and is the physician member on the Indiana Athletic Trainers Licensing Board.  In her spare time, Dr. Walls enjoys staying active, reading, camping, and spending time with her German Shepherds.
