2023 Season Review
The boys tennis team finished the 2023 season with a 4-10 record. Through the season, though, the team developed their technique as well as their strategic approach to the game. The goal for the season was to compete well in every match, and Coach Lord believes that was accomplished. Coach Lord is also proud to share that the Royals were complimented many times throughout the season on their great demeanor on the court.
Junior Chris Stanley was named MVP for the season. Chris won the sectional title and put up a hard-fought match in the regional championship to become the runner-up. Seniors Andrew Heiden and Eli Rutherford won the Mental Attitude Award, sophomore Charlie Baker was given the Leadership Award and freshman Brian Moreno was chosen for the Sportsmanship Award.
The season as a whole was notable for Coach Lord. It was his first season coaching the Royals, but he said his most memorable moment was this, “Chris Stanley may have made it to regionals, but for me, watching him win a close three-set match at #1 singles vs. Franklin Central was the highlight of the season.”
