Eric Quintana

Eric Quintana began as the head football coach for the Royals in 2022. He was named Marion County Coach of the Year after leading the Royals to a 12-2 season in 2022, including a narrow loss in the semi-state, overtime matchup against the eventual state champions, East Central. Quintana has spent time as an assistant coach at Noblesville, Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, Carmel and Bishop Chatard. Quintana has been part of three State Championship Teams: Carmel (2016) and Bishop Chatard (2019 & 2020). He was a two-time All-State and Top 50 football player at Plymouth High School. He was also a four-time all-conference and Cactus Bowl All-American player at The University of Indianapolis. Eric and his wife Kristin have three kids, Madelynn, Ellie and Roman, who are parishioners at Christ the King.

Roger Dodson

Roger began his high school coaching career at Roncalli in 1977, where he coached until 1979. Coach Dodson brings 23 years of head coaching experience to the Royals staff, and he current acts as the Roncalli quarterbacks coach for. He is a 1972 graduate of Bremen High School, where he was a four-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball, track and baseball. Roger is a 1977 graduate of Butler University, where he earned varsity letters in both football and baseball. While receiving individual honors at both Bremen and Butler, his greatest honor was playing for and coaching with Hall of Fame Coaches Don Bunge and Bill Sylvester. He is a recipient of the Indiana Football Coaches Association, Head Coaches 100 Wins Award and is a member of the Indiana Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Over the years, Coach Dodson has received media and conference awards, but none have compared to the opportunity to coach so many outstanding student athletes, as well as the privilege to coach alongside many excellent coaches. Roger and his wife Kathleen have three children; Todd, Brock and Monica, as well as 6 grandchildren.

Sam Otley

Sam Otley began coaching with the Royals in 2016. A 2011 Roncalli graduate, Otley was voted Team Captain, Offensive MVP and selected to play in the IFCA North/South All-Star game. He continued his football career at Franklin College, where he was a four-year letterman and Senior Captain. He joined the Roncalli football staff after coaching as a graduate assistant at Franklin College and North Carolina Wesleyan. Sam is an Edward Jones Financial Advisor, and he and his wife Allis, along with their son, Magnus, live in Greenwood.

Dan Harris

Dan Harris began his tenure with the Royals as the Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach  in 2022. Before joining the Royals, Harris spent seven years as an assistant coach at Noblesville and Ben Davis. He is also an economics teacher at Roncalli. Coach Harris graduated from Roncalli in 2013, as a two-year letter winner on both the football and baseball teams. He went on to graduate from Franklin
College in 2017, as a two-year letter winner on their football team. He and his wife Hannah, with their son, Gabe, reside in Mooresville. They are parishioners at St. Jude Catholic Church.

Dave Burton

Dave Burton began with the Roncalli football team as an assistant in 2013. He is the wide receivers coach for the Royals. The former University of Indianapolis quarterback is a native of Winchester, Indiana, and he spent 10 years as an assistant at Warren Central, where he coached two Mr. Football winners. He was the offensive coordinator for the 2006 Warren Central squad, dubbed the “Greatest Team in Indiana History” by the Indianapolis Star. While at Roncalli, Burton was responsible for tutoring Conner Gore, who ranked in the top five nationally in pass completion percentage in 2017. Burton and his wife Shannon have two boys, Dane and Drew. They are parishioners at St. Roch.

David Marsh

David Marsh began with the Royals in 2023. David graduated from Bishop Chatard and played collegiate football at Miami of Ohio and Wabash College. David was a part of the 2015-2016 IHSAA 3A State Championship Football Team for Bishop Chatard. He was also among the list of 2015-2016 All-State Football Players in Indiana. David works for Kirkpatrick Management Company in Indianapolis as a property manager, and he is excited to be a part of the Roncalli Football Organization.

Brian Lauck

Brian Lauck began as a Roncalli volunteer coach in 2020, and he serves as the cornerbacks coach. After winning two state titles (‘93 & ‘94) and graduating from Roncalli in 1995, he was a four-year letter winner and senior co-captain at UIndy. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Greyhounds, coaching the quarterbacks and wide receivers for two seasons. He then returned to the Roncalli sideline as part of the coaching staff from 2001 through 2011. During that stretch, Roncalli won three state titles (‘02 – ‘04) and appeared in four consecutive state championship games. Brian’s passion for coaching is driven by his desire to guide young men in building life skills, learning the importance of being great teammates, carrying on the generations of Southside football tradition and most importantly, supporting the growth of each player’s faith journey. He, his wife Courtney, and their kids, Brayden, Baylie, Maddie and Emma, are parishioners at St. Jude Catholic Church.

Chris Belch

Chris Belch has been coaching at  Roncalli since 1998, primarily on the defensive side of the ball. He is currently the inside linebackers coach. A partner in the Lynch & Belch Law Firm, he has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, as well as his degree from the Indiana University School of Law. As the program’s former defensive coordinator, Belch led defenses during four Roncalli state championship campaigns and coached Roncalli’s only Mr. Football winner, Jason Werner. He and his wife Amber have 4 children, Brooklyn, Taylor, Benji and Owen.

Brock Dodson

Brock Dodson began coaching the Roncalli Royals in 2022. After graduating from Franklin Community High School in 2004, he played four years at St. Ambrose University, where he was a four-time Conference Champion and Senior Captain. Prior to coming to the Royals, Dodson was an OLB coach at Greenfield Central and Bishop Chatard. Brock was a part of Bishop Chatard’s 2019 and 2020 State Championship teams. When not coaching football, Brock is a Sr. Account Executive for Commerce Payments. He also spends time with his wife, Monica, and daughter, Marlee. Brock’s reason for coaching is to mold young men by using the values the game of football has taught him on and off the field.

Luke Scifres

Luke Scifres, began coaching at Roncalli in 2014, focusing primarily on the running backs. Coach Scifres also serves as the special teams coordinator. As a Roncalli athlete, Scifres was the Mental Attitude Award winner, as well as the GREAT Player Award winner by the Indianapolis Kiwanis Club in 2010. While a player at Marian University, Scifres was a member of a national championship team and a national runner-up team. He and his wife Emily live on the southside of Indianapolis, and they have one daughter, Kate.

Kellen Schreiber

Kellen Schreiber began coaching football at Roncalli in 2023, and he also teaches history at RHS. Schreiber was a 2018 graduate of Roncalli, where he played basketball. He continued his athletic career at Wabash College. Kellen will be working with Coach Burton and the wide receivers.

Devon Belcher

Devon Belcher R’17 is the football program’s video coordinator and manager. He started with the Royals in 2021. During high school, he was a four-year manager with the football program, including the 2016 State Championship season. He also served as a manager for Roncalli’s boys basketball team. He spent one season (2019) as the head equipment manager at Marian University. He currently works as an estimator at Indianapolis General Contractors.

Michael Morelli

Mike Morelli started in 2023 as the director of football operations (DFO) at Roncalli. His background is in coaching both football and basketball in the Catholic Youth Organization for over ten years. He has extensive experience in operations and quality control/improvement as president of his medical group, Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is a full-time practicing gastroenterologist, with an additional passion for sports and for developing young athletes. He also utilizes sports as a platform to spread his faith and help players become great people of high character. His main role as DFO is to help provide a foundation and infrastructure to allow for maximum success on the field of play for the football program. He is a 1989 product of Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, OH, where he was captain of the football and baseball teams and played basketball. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 for his undergrad work. He and his wife Andrea have three children; Sofia, Dominic and Lola.

Dean Stahley

Dean Stahley began as the head coach for the freshman team in 2023.  Stahley spent the previous 11 years as an assistant coach on the staff. He was a member of Roncalli’s 1999 State Championship football team, the first team to go undefeated in program history. As a senior tailback in 2001, he was named the Roncalli Offensive MVP. He graduated from Roncalli in 2002, then went on to graduate from Indiana University. Stahley and his wife Maria, have two daughters, Camilla and Colette. They are parishioners at St. Jude.

Mike Harris

Mike Harris began coaching at Roncalli in 2012, and he is the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. Harris is a 2000 graduate of Roncalli and was a defensive starter on the 1999 State Championship team. Harris was the video coordinator for the Marian University football team in 2010, He was on the coaching staff at Scecina Memorial High School in 2011 when they were state runners-up. Harris is currently employed by St. Mark.

Matt Camden

Matthew Camden R’00 began coaching at Roncalli in 2023. After graduating, Camden served 14 honorable years in the United States Navy. During his time in the service, he also was the Junior Varsity and Varsity WR/RB coach at Radford High School in Honolulu, HI from 2013-2020. He is currently working for Amentum as a Project Coordinator.

Scott Houser

Scott Houser started coaching high school football in 1997. Coach Houser and his wife Karen R ’93 have three children: Lucy, Robert and Maryanna. Coach Houser grew up in Fort Wayne and attended Bishop Dwenger High School, where he was an offensive lineman on the 1990 and 1991 State Championship teams. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1996 and his master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2003.

Justin Hornek

Justin started coaching in 2018, and he works with the offensive line. Graduating from Roncalli in 2016, Justin went on to IUPUI to get a degree in Construction Management. He is excited to be coaching for the Roncalli family.

Alan English

Alan English started coaching the Roncalli freshman in 2018. He works primarily with wide receivers. Before coming to Roncalli, English spent four seasons coaching in the CYO South Central program. English is a firefighter for the Indianapolis Fire Department, and he has always been a fan of Roncalli football. He spent his childhood idolizing older cousins and siblings who ran out of the woods. He is a 2008 Roncalli alum and married fellow alumna Amanda Parrett R’08. They are currently members of Holy Name parish. English says, “I am truly blessed to be able to pass this great tradition of Catholic football on to the next generation.”

Brian Johnson

Brian “Big Dawg” Johnson joined Roncalli’s freshman football staff in 2020, and he coaches the defensive backs. He and his wife Emily R ‘98 have two daughter’s, Maylee & Mallory Johnson. They are currently members of St. Roch parish.

Don Byrne

Don Byrne began with the freshman football staff in 1999, having originally joined the program under then freshman head coach Steve Wilson. Prior to that, he coached CYO football at St. Jude. Through coaching at Roncalli, or in the feeder system, Byrne has been connected to nine of Roncalli’s 10 football state championship teams. He and his wife Meg both graduated from Roncalli in 1982. Their daughter Sarah R’07 was a member of Roncalli’s 2006 Class 3A Volleyball State Champions. She is a nurse at IU Health and she and her husband Pete have three daughters: Caroline, Georgia and Danni. Don and Meg’s son Josh graduated from Roncalli in 2020 and attends Indiana Tech, where he plays volleyball. He was a member of Roncalli’s 2018 Boys Volleyball State Champion team.

Ryan Hayes

Ryan started with the Royals in 2023, and his primary focus is on strength and conditioning. Ryan and his wife have two sons; Renlee and Raelen. He is a full-student at Indiana Tech, works in construction project management and he is a proud US Army Veteran. Ryan states, “I am looking forward to joining Roncalli as an assistant coach, and I cannot wait to help our student athletes grow stronger both physically and mentally for THEIR future.”
