The Roncalli varsity football team opened up their season with a dominant win over Southport 37-13 on Friday night getting head coach Sam Otley his first win as a head football coach
-Jayden Buchanan threw for 288 yards and 4 TDS
-Drew Nelson had 5 receptions for 101 yards and a TD
-Zach Dozier had 3 receptions for 63 yards and 2 TDS and 12 carries for 87 yards
-Rudy Schoettle had 2 catches for 93 yards with a TD and a 35 yard punt return
-The defense was suffocating led by Sam Neu with 7 tackles and 1.5 sacks
-Eli Lauck and Brady Tillar each had 6 tackles and an interception
-Kicker Gavin Louthain had 3 field goals and four extra points to register 13 points for the Royals

The varsity football team lost a tough battle to rival Bishop Chatard 9-3 on Friday night. The defense put forth a strong team effort. Brody Heidelberger had 12 tackles and ½ of a sack, Will Hegwood had 10 tackles, and Eli Lauck and Dominic Nelson added 7 tackles each to lead the defense. Jayden Buchanan was 14 of 27 for 110 yards passing for the offense. Gavin Louthain made a 32 yard field goal and had a 72 yard punt with a 52 yard average on 5 punts.

Columbus North
The varsity football team lost to Columbus North on Friday night 14-0. Conner Kesler had 4 catches for 78 yards. Henry Adams added 38 yards on the ground. Collin Ash threw for 110 yards. The defense was stout all night led by Brody Heidelberger with 11 tackles, Will Hegwood with 10 tackles, Sam Neu with 10 tackles including ½ sack, and AJ Richardson with 9 tackles. Gavin Louthain averaged 44 yards per punt.

Varsity football won on Friday night vs. Guerin Catholic 38-22. It was a true team win. Collin Ash was 18-23 passing for 220 yards with one touchdown thrown to Alex Toth. Ash also had 73 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns. Zach Dozier ran for 135 yards. Drew Nelson had 5 receptions for 74 yards and Connor Kesler had 5 receptions for 55 yards.
Kicker Gavin Louthain went 1-1 with a 27 yard field goal. The defense was led by Brody Heidelberger with 8 tackles, Johnny Jaffe with 7 tackles, Sam Neu with six tackles, and Eli Lauck with six tackles and one interception.

-Eli Lauck had a 96 yard interception return for a touchdown
-Robert Houser had a scoop fumble recovery and touchdown covering 76 yards

-It was a great team effort
-The defense forced 5 turnovers including 2 interceptions by Will Hegwood, an interception by Marty Babcock, and an interception with return of 82 yards by AJ Richardson
-Robert Houser had 9 tackles and Alex Winchester had 7 tackles
-Zach Dozier ran for 2 touchdowns, 89 yards, and had two kick returns for 81 yards
-Collin Ash had 88 yards rushing

-Varsity football beat Northview 33-17 Friday night in the first round of sectional action.
-Zach Dozier had 16 carries for 162 yds with 2 TD

-The offensive line and WR blocked well all night
-Conner Kessler had 6 receptions
-Will Hegwood had 9 tackles and an interception

-Varsity football had a big win at Brebeuf in the sectional semi final on Friday night 55-27
-Zach Dozier ran for 176 yds on 23 carries with one TD
-Collin Ash had 19 carries for 159 yards and 3 TDs
-Jayden Buchanan threw a 27 yard TD pass to Rudy Schoettle and a 20 yard TD pass to Drew Nelson
-Gavin Louthain had a 45 yard field goal and was 7 for 7 on extra points
-AJ Richardson had 7 tackles and Robert Houser at 6 tackles

-Zach Dozier had one touchdown throw and a 94 yard kickoff return for a touchdown
-Will Hegwood had 9 tackles and Robert Houser had 7 tackles to lead the defense
-The Royals finished the season 6-5

JV beat Southport 42-0. Kallen Stahley and Dominic Cromer led the air raid offense. Ben Swiezy, Alex Toth, Mikey Dillion, and Turner Douglas all scored touchdowns. Defensively, the Royals put up a shutout. Charlie Allen had an interception. Milton Duran and Wyatt Kirschner had standout defensive performances as well.

JV defeated Carmel 60-35. Defense only allowed 14 in the second half, including a Ryder Douglas interception. Offense had the ball moving in the second half. After only scoring 12 points in the first half. Kallen Stahley threw for 3 TD’s, 1 to Mikey Dillon and 2 to Ben Swiezy. Trevor Kaufman had a great day running the ball with 3 rushing touchdowns.

JV lost to East Central 20-16 in a tough battle. Mikey Dillion and Ben Sweizey both got into the end zone on passes from Kallen Stahley and Dominic Cromer. The rushing game was led by Carson Keller. Keller also led the defense who shut out the Trojans in the second half

JV finished the season by traveling to Tri West and lost 32-12. Ben Swiezy and Trevor Kaufman found their way into the endzone. The rushing attack was led by Carson Keller. The defense was led by Jaxson Lawson.

Roncalli Freshman football team beat Southport 35-0 with all scoring coming in the first half.
Offensively, Quarterbacks Dane Burton and Gavin McGee led the high flying offense with each QB throwing TD Passes (Burton -1, McGee -2). 4 different players scored:
Keegan Shaffer – 29 yard TD Run
Caleb Maurer – 9 Yard TD Reception & 18 Yard TD Reception
Mason Carroll – 10 Yard TD Reception
Noah Shaw – 2 Yard TD Run
Defense pitched the shutout:

Defense gave up only 23 yards of offense in the 1st half.

Freshman Football lost a tough game to Franklin Central 20-13.
Jonah Roell led the defense with 8 tackles,a fumble recovery, and punt return for TD. Charlie Neu was also a force with 4 tackles, a blocked punt, and 3 pass break ups.
Offensively, Dane Burton connected with Mason Carroll for a 41 yard TD. Noah Shaw was solid running the ball all day.

The Freshman football team won a hard fought defensive battle against Bishop Chatard, 3-0 in overtime. Paul Thang connected on a 24 yard field goal in OT. The defense held tough with the 2nd shutout of the year and finished off Chatard with an interception by Jamey Cobb.

Freshman football defeated Guerin Catholic JV 30-0. The defense pitched their third shutout of the season giving up only one first down. The defensive line was strong all day led by Charlie Neu with 2.5 sacks and consistent pressure from Vinny Conover. Mason Carroll chipped in with an interception. Offensively, Noah Shaw led the charge with 120 yards rushing and 2 TD’s. Iker Flores also had one rushing TD. QB Dane Burton managed the offense well all day and connected with Jimmy Kessenich on a 17 yard touchdown pass. Special teams were solid once again with Paul Thang hitting a 33 yard field goal and converting an onside kick recovered by Tyler Kedra.

Freshman Football beat Lafayette Harrison 35-22 on Saturday. The offense had it going again moving the ball all game with a balanced attack with Dane Burton (QB) running the show. All 5 scores were on the ground as Noah Shaw (2 rush TD’s), Dane Burton (2 rush TD’s), and Bryan Espinoza (1 rush TD) punched it in. The RB tandem of Keegan Shaffer and Noah Shaw were workhorses all day running the ball. The offensive line of Luke Plummer, Ayden Campbell, Vinny Conover, Bryan Espinoza, and Mac Taylor produced their most dominant game. Paul Thang was 5/5 on PAT’s.
The defense was all over the field against a very good Harrison offense. They forced two turnovers with an interception by Mason Carroll and a fumble recovery by Matthew Stevens. Tackle leaders included Jonah Roell (12), Matthew Stevens (11), Gavin McGee (10), and Charlie Neu (9).

Freshman Football defeated Lafayette Jeff 30-7 on Saturday.
Offensively, Dane Burton commanded the offense again by throwing for 3 TD’s. Mason Carroll was on the receiving end of 2 TD’s and added a 2 pt conversion. Jack Stafford had one receiving TD on a great catch and run. Gavin McGee had one rushing TD. Ayden Campbell also caught a 2 pt conversion.
Defensively, the Royals had 19 players register tackles led by Jonah Roell with 8. Gavin Guthrie had a sack. Gavin McGee had an interception. Owen Denzer recorded a safety. Abram Noriega recovered a fumble. Defense only giving up 8ppg on this season thus far.
