Boys Soccer
2024 Season Review
The boys soccer team finished their season 5-9-2. Despite the toughness of the schedule, more losses than wins, more disappointments than excitement, the team kept their heads up high and figured out how to be pretty competitive and pick up some solid wins along the way. The team had a great win against Columbus East 4-2, and they also beat a tough Perry Meridian squad 1-0. The best games of the season were against Heritage Christian, a decisive 3-1, followed by a 3-0 win over Bishop Chatard on senior night. “The most memorable moment of the season was the Chatard win on senior night! We were on fire that game, and we handed Chatard their biggest loss of the season that night. The Trojans ended up having a record-breaking season, ultimately going on to win the Class 2A regional championship.” said head coach Maurice Schilten.
Although the season proved to be a difficult one, a lot of athletes were recognized for their hard work. Junior Cole Huff was named the team MVP, and he also was named ISCA 2nd Team All-District 3, All-Circle City Conference, All-County and ISCA Academic All-State. Senior Andrew Curry also took home a number of awards this season, Roncalli Mental Attitude Award, Leadership Award and Sportsmanship award. He was also recognized as ISCA Academic All-State. Joining him in that recognition were seniors Conner Johnson and Tomas Vecchio and juniors Anthony Litz, Logan Neyenhaus, Sam Purdy and Corbin Sejas.
Senior William Laker was named ISCA Top Team Player, and freshman Tanner Miller was recognized as All-Circle City Conference. Junior Jonny Harlow rounded out the accolades with an All-Circle City Conference and ISCA Academic All-State recognition.
