2023 Season Review

Girls Golf

The Lady Royals finished the season with a 37-31 record. The team played a competitive schedule and had much success throughout the year. This season, the Royals had full rosters for both the varsity and JV teams. Varsity was led by senior co-captains Clara Ralston and Gabby DeMore. The hard work the team put in during the preseason resulted in a winning season for the Royals. The goals the team set in the beginning of the season, both on a personal level and team level, exceeded expectations, and the coaching staff could not be more proud of the team. Season highlights included finishing 5th in the Circle City Championship, 3rd in the Marion County Tournament and 8th at Sectionals. Ralston and junior Sami Fuller were both named to the 2023 All-County Team.

After a great season, Ralston was named MVP. She was a great role model for the team. The Mental Attitude Award was given to senior Paige Riley, as she displayed a positive mental attitude throughout the whole season and was a great mentor for the JV team. Gabby DeMore was awarded the Leadership Award. As co-captain, she was a great team leader, including leading the team in prayer before every match. Due to her winning attitude throughout the season, senior Alyssa O’Connor received the Sportsmanship Award.

Coach Waugh said this about the season, “In my second year as head coach, I was really impressed with the work ethic and dedication from the whole team. We made vast improvements in skill while having a really fun season. While we will miss the leadership of our four graduating seniors, I am excited for the upcoming junior class, not only with their talent but ability to take the program to the next level.”
