Welcome from the Athletic Director
A letter from the Director of Athletics
On behalf of student-athletes, coaches and support staff, we welcome you to Roncalli Athletics!
At Roncalli, we strongly believe in the role athletics plays in the development of a young person’s life and its lasting impact. We have a tremendous opportunity to help student-athletes discover their roles and God-given abilities while being challenged and pushed to be the best version of themselves. Roncalli is blessed to have phenomenal student-athletes, transformative coaches and a supportive community.
Students will have the opportunity to choose from 24 varsity sports during the course of their time at Roncalli – while over 70% of the student body will participate in a sport on an annual basis. The time spent on these teams are simply an extension of the classroom, and athletics provides an opportunity for both student-athletes and coaches to fulfill the mission of the school.
Roncalli is also proud of the accomplishments of our Royals! Five Royal teams have captured State Championships (Baseball – 2016; Boys Volleyball – 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024; Football – 1985, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2016, 2020; Softball – 1999, 2001, 2011, 2021, 2022; Volleyball – 1981, 1998, 2006). This past winter, Peyton Schoettle ’26, won an individual wrestling state championship – the school’s 8th individual wrestling champion, and the 15 th individual champion across multiple sports. We are incredibly proud too, of our over 50 graduates competing at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels! Best of luck to all of our Royals this school year!
Blessings,
David Lauck, R’94

Roncalli High School Athletic Department Mission Statement
The Roncalli High School athletic program is a ministry of the Catholic Church that is committed to the growth of student-athletes as Christian leaders in body, mind and spirit.
Body: Roncalli athletic programs will develop physically tough athletes who understand the value of hard work in training and competition. This includes developing every individual athlete.
Mind: Roncalli athletic programs will develop mentally tough athletes who learn to communicate and connect with teammates and coaches, problem solve, celebrate success, and overcome adversity.
Spirit: Roncalli athletic programs will develop their athletes as disciples of Jesus Christ. We will do this through commitments to love one another, prayer, genuine spirituality, and service.
It is the goal of all Roncalli athletic programs to glorify God in all that we do.
