The girls battled in a very competitive Ben Davis Invitational on Saturday. Claire May went 3-1 losing in the finals in overtime. Andi McHugh wrestled tough in her first matches of the season going 2-2 and placing in the top eight!

The lady grapplers combined to score 26 team points at The Gobbler hosted by Southport. Andi McHugh went 2 and 3 and placed 11th in the 42 team tournament. Claire May battled her way to finals and lost to last year’s state runner up 6-3. The girls will battle next week at the Monrovia invite.

The Lady Royal wrestlers competed in the Monrovia Invite on Saturday. Claire May went 2-0 and took home the championship. Andi McHugh went 2-2 and placed 4th in an 8 person bracket.

Roncalli will be sending 2 wrestlers to the Girls Semi-State on January 5th. Claire May went 3-0 with 3 pins on her way to the 110 pound regional title. Andi McHugh went 2-2 and placed 4th. Top 4 in each weight class next week will advance to the State Championship.

The Royals took two lady wrestlers to Muncie to compete for a state championship birth. Andi McHugh lost a tough first round match knocking her out of contention. Claire May was 3-1 on the day placing 3rd. She will compete next Friday for a state title.

Claire May became Roncalli’s first female wrestling state placewinner going 2-2 and placed 7th. Claire made quick work of her first opponent with a second period fall. May fell short against the eventual runner-up and regional foe from Greenfield Central. Claire defeated a highly ranked wrestler from Lake Central for 7th.
