Maurice Schilten

Maurice Schilten began his time as the head coach of Roncalli’s boys varsity soccer in 2022. He previously spent seven seasons as the school’s girls varsity soccer head coach. In his first season with the boys the varsity team finished the season with a 14-3-3 record, won the Marion County Tournament Championship for the first time in school history and tied the school records for most goals scored and fewest losses in a season.

Schilten, a native of The Netherlands, played in the development system of Dutch professional club Willem II as a youth, culminating with a first-team appearance in the Eredivisie, the top level of professional soccer in The Netherlands. In 1994, Schilten came to the United States to play college soccer at Xavier University. While at Xavier, he was one of the top 10 scorers in the nation and finished his career with the school single-season assist record. He also earned the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Scholar Athlete of the Year award and was an Academic All-American. Following his college career, he played professionally in the U.S. and in The Netherlands.

Schilten spent six seasons (2000-2005) as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Franklin College. While at Franklin, he led the men’s team in 2000 to the first winning record in program history. During his time coaching Roncalli’s girls soccer team, he won 66 matches and three sectional titles. In 2015, Schilten guided the girls team to a program-record 17 wins. Additionally, he has been coaching youth club soccer in central Indiana for over 20 years and at Indy Premier Soccer Club since 2017.
