2025 Season Preview
The Lady Royals look to defend their crown as State and AVCA National Champions as they return the majority of their starting lineup, lead by eight seniors. The 2024 season was perfect with a 35-0 record, and the team only lost five sets the entire season. The Royals accumulated a Circle City Conference Championship, Marion County Championship, Class 3A State Championship and AVCA National Championship. Notable wins included a sweep of then ranked #1 Hamilton Southeastern in the regular season, and big wins over Center Grove, Tri-West and Cathedral.
Leading the way for the 2025 season will be returning starters seniors Lydia Stahley, Addie Haberthy, Lily Jones, Reagan Turk, Faith Schoettle and junior Ella Stone. Last year, Stahley was a dominant pin hitter and finished the season with 3.9 kills/set. Haberthy was charged with running the offense and finished the season with 937 assists and looks to break the 2000 career assist mark. Turk maintained the ball control and backcourt at the libero position, and she finished the season with 311 digs, at 3.3 digs/set. Stone led the team last season with 92 total blocks. Schoettle returns with her defensive prowess in the backcourt, and Jones will return as a dominant opposite attacker and formidable blocker. She averaged 1.5 kills/set last season.
Senior Grace Troxell and sophomore Ava Stone will be expected to contribute and add depth to the middle blocker position. Sophomore Rosanna Spearing will return after a strong freshman campaign at the outside hitter position. In addition, Seniors Kaelin Quinlin and Addie Phillips and sophomore Nora Smith will add depth at the defensive specialist position. Freshman Norah Bell will add depth at the setting position.
This group will look to replace the loss of four seniors. Notably Logan Bell, who was a four-year starter at Roncalli, Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year and MaxPrep Player of the Year in Indiana. You can watch her collegiately, playing for University of Kansas Jayhawks. MacKenzie Kruer was a three-year starter at middle blocker and 1st team All-State…she will be playing soccer at Michigan State University. Eva Hurrle was a 2nd team All-State Defensive Specialist, and she will take her craft to DePaul University. Finally, Josie Lezon was a defensive specialist who led the team with her strong work ethic and spirit.
