The Royal’s Varsity baseball team dropped a close contest to Franklin Community 4-3. Offensively, the Royals had 4 hits with Drew Nelson, Ayden Hartman, and Gio Ardizzone each contributing singles, while Collin Ash added an RBI double. On the mound, Ash started and threw 5 innings, giving up 2 earned runs, while striking out 7 Franklin batters. Daylan Powers and Luke Greene each threw a scoreless inning in relief. The Royal’s return to the diamond on Tuesday, as they travel to Lutheran for a 5:30 pm contest.

Varsity baseball defeated Lutheran by a score of 18-4. Offensively, the Royals pounded out 12 hits lead by Collin Ash’s 3 hit performance with 3 RBIs. Luke Baker added 4 RBIs with 2 hits. Other Royals with multiple hits included Gio Ardizzone and Maddux Haworth. Sam Roeder added a 3 run homerun in a big 10 run first inning. The Royals stole 12 bases during the contest with Austin Walker, Drew Nelson, Roeder, Ash, and Ardizzone having 2 steals apiece. Nico Amodeo started pitching for the Royals going 2 2/3 innings, while Jaiden Kuria threw the last 2 1/3 innings. Together the Royal’s pitchers struck out 7 hitters allowing 3 hits.

Offensively the Royals pounded out 12 hits. Gio Ardizzone had 3 hits, including a double, while driving in a run. JP Roseli added 2 hits with 3 RBIs. Sam Roeder scored 3 runs, with 2 hits, while stealing 4 bases. Luke Baker added a key double driving in 2 runs. Luke Roeder contributed with a timely pinch hit 2 run homerun. Collin Ash, Maddux Haworth, Ayden Hartman each added hits in the Royal’s offensive barrage.

Collin Ash added 4 runs batted in after a key single and 2 sacrifice fly balls. Other Royals who added hits were Luke Greene, Gio Ardizzone, Sam Roeder, and Luke Roeder. Ash pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing 1 hit while striking out 6. Greene threw the final 3 1/3 innings, giving up 5 hits, while striking out 6.

Luke Roeder added a late pinch hit double, with Rudy Schoettle, Gio Ardizzone, and Sam Roeder adding the other Royal hits offensively. Andrew McHugh earned the win on the mound, throwing 5 2/3 innings, scattering 8 hits, allowing 1 earned run, while striking out 4. Nico Amodeo started on the mound for the Royals, throwing the first 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, while striking out 8 batters.
Offensively, the Royal’s had 10 hits led by Gio Ardizzone, Maddux Haworth, and Luke Roeder who each added 2 hits apiece. Ardizzone and Sam Roeder contributed with key doubles, while Collin Ash and Johnny Jaffe each added base hits.

Rudy Schoettle doubled, drove in a pair of runs, and stole 3 bases. Austin Walker added a pinch hit sacrifice fly driving in a run. Aydan Hartman delivered a pinch hit single, driving in a run. Ash threw a complete game, striking out 8, allowing 2 hits.

Amodeo pitched a complete game going 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, with 3 strikeouts. The Royals conclude the Circle City Conference series tonight at Bishop Chatard.

Andrew McHugh earned the victory in relief, throwing 1 scoreless inning, and Nico Amodeo earned the save.
Offensively, the Royals had 5 hits with Luke Roeder and Will Manship contributing 2 hits each, while Rudy Schoettle added a single with a stolen base.

The Royals defeated the Cougars 6-0 in the night cap of the double header. Jaiden Kuria tossed a gem of a complete game, giving up 2 hits over the 7 innings while striking out 16 batters. Sam Roeder, Collin Ash, and Luke Roeder each had 2 hits. Drew Nelson added a single while Maddux Haworth added a double. Will Manship drove in 2 runs with a pain of sacrifice fly outs.

Ash and Andrew McHugh each contributed on the mound, throwing 3 innings apiece. McHugh didn’t allow a run, striking out 3, and only allowing 2 hits.

Drew Nelson got the scoring started in the second inning by launching a 2 run homerun. Luke Baker’s 2 run homerun increased the Royal lead 2 innings later. Collin Ash, Nelson, and Baker each contributed with 2 hits.

They each doubled, while Nelson drove in 3 runs, and Roeder drove in a pair of runs. Maddux Haworth contributed with a hit and drove in a run. Ash and Will Manship also contributed a base hit. The Royals added 4 stolen bases by Nelson, Ardizzone, Roeder, and Manship.

Jaiden Kuria delivered a strong pitching performance, throwing a complete game, giving up 4 hits, and 1 earned run. The Royals offensively had 7 hits led by a 3 hit performance by Gio Ardizzone. Maddux Haworth added 2 hits, with a RBI. Sam Roeder added a hit and a RBI. Drew Nelson’s clutch double drove in 2 runs. The Royals stole 3 bases.

Nico Amodeo earned the win for the Royals, throwing 6 and 2/3 innings while allowing 6 hits and striking out 4. Daylan Powers came in to record the final out and earn the save. Sam Roeder recorded 2 hits, an RBI, and 2 runs. Drew Nelson added 2 RBI. Maddux Haworth scored twice, while driving in a run. Luke Baker doubled and added an RBI. Rudy Schoettle contributed with a hit and a stolen base. Gio Ardizzone stole 3 bases, contributing to 9 stolen bases in the winning effort.

Offensively, the Royals were led by Gio Ardizzone, with 3 hits, including a double and a homerun. Ash added 3 hits, with a double. Sam Roeder contributed 3 hits, with a pair of doubles. Will Manship drove in a run with 3 hits. Johnny Jaffe’s double drove in a pair of runs. Maddux Haworth and Austin Walker added singles in the winning effort as well.

In game 2 of the double header, the Royals defeated Fairmont 7-5. Daylan Powers picked up the win on the mound for the Royals, throwing 5 innings, allowing 7 hits and with 4 runs. Nico Amodeo earned the save in relief. Collin Ash had 3 hits, with a double and Drew Nelson added a clutch 2 run triple to help the Royals take the lead late in the game. Other Royals adding hits offensively included Luke Baker, Gio Ardizzone, Rudy Schoettle, Maddux Haworth, and Will Manship.

Jaiden Kuria threw a scoreless inning in relief without giving up a hit.

In the semi-final round of sectionals, Roncalli defeated Greenwood 7-1 to advance to the Sectional Championship. Collin Ash got the start on the mound for Roncalli and threw 4 ⅓ innings, allowing 2 hits, striking out 3. Jaiden Kuria came in relief and threw 2 ⅔ innings, allowing 3 hits, striking out 4, and allowed the only run.
Offensively, Ash got the Royals on the board with an early run on an infield single. Gio Ardizzone drove in 3 runs in the game and had a clutch double. Luke Baker added another big extra base hit, with a leadoff double in the top of the 6th inning.
The Royals stole 9 bases on the day, Sam Roeder leading with 3.

Roncalli lost to New Palestine in the sectional championship 10-3. Roncalli jumped out to the 3-0 lead starting with Sam Roeder’s double that scored Gio Ardizzone. Roncalli scored 2 more with a Rudy Schoettle sacrifice fly and an Ardizzone double. Ardizzone had 2 hits in the game. Nico Amodeo started for the Royals on the mound and went 5 1/3, allowing 6 hits, 3 earned runs, while striking out 5.

The Royals JV baseball team earned a come from behind 7-5 victory at Franklin Community by scoring 4 runs in the last inning.
The Royals started well with 3 runs in the first 2 innings. However, the Grizzly Cubs came back with 5 runs over the next 3 innings to take a 5-3 lead.
The 7th inning comeback featured a single by Ryan Merkel, a double by Kallen Stahley and a game winning 2 RBI single from Jack Kriner. Hayden Bauman pitched 4 ⅓ innings in relief to get the win. He had 5 strikeouts, gave up 3 hits and a run. The Royals were led in hitting with 2 hits each from Ryan Merkel and Dom Cromer. In addition to Jack Kriner, Cromer also had 2 RBI, while Merkel and Max Kriner each had one.

The Royals JV baseball team beat Ben Davis 21- 2. Joey Matis was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings while giving up 2 hits and 2 unearned runs. The Royals were led in hitting by Jack Kriner and Dominic Cromer with 2 hits each. Cromer contributed 3 RBI and Kriner 2.

Gavin McGee started on the mound and went 4 innings while giving up 4 hits and 4 runs, 1 earned. He also struck out 7 while walking 1.

In the second game, Dane Burton pitched a complete game giving up 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 10. The Royals rapped out 12 hits with Brayden Treadway and Burton both collecting 3 hits. Leading the way with 2 RBIs each were Treadway and Gavin McGee.

The Royals had 7 stolen bases led by a pair from Ryan Merkel. Anthony Shives led the team with 2 RBIs and Jack Kriner contributed an RBI in his 9th straight game. Brayden Treadwell, Kale Appleby and Merkel all contributed sacrifice fly balls for RBIs. Joey Matis also had 2 hits on the day.

Gavin McGee was the winning pitcher in the first game, going 5 innings with 4 strikeouts and giving up 2 runs. Hayden Bauman finished the last 2 innings for the save. The Royals had 10 hits in the game, led by Anthony Shives and Kallen Stahley with 2 hits each.
Game 2, Carmel scored a run in the first inning and were held scoreless for the next 3 innings. Anthony Shives collected 2 more hits in the nightcap, but the Royals were limited to 5 hits.

Roncalli was led offensively by Anthony Shives and Hayden Bauman with 2 RBIs each. Also contributing RBIs were Jack Kriner, Kallen Stahley and Dominic Cromer. Kriner and Cromer along with Shives had 2 hits each. The Royals also stole 8 bases, with Kriner and Sean Willison taking 2 each.
